Subscription Plan Terms

1. What a plan is
A plan is a fixed amount of use of a fixed set of models over a fixed period, bought for a price paid once. It is not a licence to the models, not a reservation of capacity, and not a promise that any particular model will exist for the whole period. The plan's own page states what it grants — the models, the allowances, the number of days and the price — and that page, read together with this one and with the Terms of Service, is the whole of what you are buying. This page applies to every plan; the plan's page supplies the numbers.
The console calls a plan a subscription, and so does this page's title. Read the word carefully: a plan is prepaid, runs for a fixed period and never renews or charges you again. Nothing here is a recurring payment.
2. Allowances
A plan grants one or both of two things:
- A daily token allowance: a number of tokens per day on the models the plan lists, often in two classes — a larger number for lighter models and a smaller one for heavier ones. The day is counted in UTC and the allowance refills at 00:00 UTC. What is not used by then is gone: a day's allowance never carries into the next day, is never added to a later day, and is never paid out as money. That is deliberate, and it is what the price is set against.
- A money ceiling for the period: the most the plan will pay for, at the ordinary prices of the models it lists, over the whole period. When the ceiling is reached, the plan can no longer pay, whatever the day's token allowance says.
While a plan can pay for a request, it pays first and your balance is not touched. Which plan pays when several could is decided by us — the one closest to expiring goes first — and is recorded against the request.
3. What an allowance does not cover
An allowance pays for tokens on the models the plan lists. It does not pay for anything else, and the following are charged to your account balance at the ordinary price, or refused if the balance will not cover them:
- Any model the plan does not list. What a plan lists is shown on its own page and on the Subscriptions tab of your console, and it may include pictures, video, speech or embeddings as well as text — a plan that lists them pays for them from its allowance like anything else.
- A provider's own paid built-in tools — web search, code execution and the like — where a model offers them. A request carrying one is kept off the keys an allowance draws on; where that leaves no route, it comes back as an error rather than being billed to the plan. Function calling you wrote yourself is not one of those tools, and an allowance does cover it.
- Anything the gateway does not offer at all — there is no fine-tuning and no evaluations, so no plan covers them.
4. When an allowance runs out
One account setting decides, and you control it on the billing page. With "continue from balance", the default, further requests for the models the plan lists are billed to your balance at the ordinary price and keep working; if the balance will not cover one, it is refused. With "stop", further requests for those models are refused until the allowance refills, and your balance is not touched. Models the plan does not list are unaffected either way. A refusal is an HTTP 402 with the error code allowance_exhausted, and where there is a known time to wait it carries a Retry-After header.
An API key scoped to a plan refuses whichever way the setting is left. That is what the scope means: such a key never touches the balance.
5. How long a period lasts, and that it does not renew
A period runs for the plan's number of days, counted from the moment the payment is recorded, not from a calendar date. When the period ends, it ends: keys scoped to the plan stop, allowances stop, and nothing is carried over.
No plan renews itself. Nothing is charged again, there is no recurring subscription at the payment processor to cancel, and buying the next period is something you do yourself, whenever you choose. A plan withdrawn from sale does not shorten a period already bought; it plays out to its last day.
6. Buying more than one
Copies multiply both sides of the deal: two copies cost twice the price and grant twice the allowances, three cost three times and grant three times, and so on. The multiplication happens at the moment of purchase and is written into the period itself, so a later change to the plan does not alter a period already sold. One purchase may buy at most the number of copies the plan's page states.
7. Capacity
Allowances are sold against capacity we hold with the providers, and the shop does not check that capacity at the moment of sale — so it is possible for more allowance to be sold than can be served on a given day. If our own capacity for a model is spent, your account's setting for Economy models decides what happens: either the request is served by the official version of the model at the price you were quoted, or it is refused with a Retry-After saying when to come back. A day's allowance is what a plan grants; it is not a guarantee that the capacity to spend it is there at every moment.
8. Cancellation and refunds
A plan is priced as a whole: a fixed amount of use over a fixed period, on the assumption that most days are not spent to the last token. It is not a pay-as-you-go balance, and it is not refunded for the days you did not use it or the tokens you did not spend.
Within the first 14 days after buying a plan we may, at our discretion, cancel it and refund part of its price. What we deduct is the share of the period that has elapsed and the value, at ordinary prices, of the allowance already used; where the allowance has been largely or wholly consumed, the refund may be small or nothing at all, and we may decline to refund. After 14 days a plan cannot be cancelled for a refund and runs to the end of its period.
By buying a plan you ask us to start it immediately, without waiting for any cancellation period to end, and you acknowledge that you will pay for what is supplied before you cancel.
If you bought as a consumer, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of the purchase. Because the plan starts at once at your request, you pay for what was supplied before you cancelled — the share of the period that has elapsed and the value of the allowance used — and we refund the rest by the method you paid with. Nothing here limits any other right the law gives a consumer where they live.
To cancel or to ask for a refund, write to support@flintbeam.com from the address on the account. What the Terms of Service say about refunds of a balance applies to a plan bought from the balance.
9. Withdrawal and changes
We may change what a plan offers to new buyers, or withdraw it from sale, at any time. A period already bought keeps what was written into it at purchase. If a provider withdraws a model a plan lists, or we can no longer offer it, we will substitute a comparable model where one exists or, where none does, refund the share of the price attributable to the rest of the period. Together with the end of the whole contract under section 17 of the Terms of Service, that is the only case in which a plan is refunded after 14 days.
10. The rules that apply to a request
A plan is access to models made by other companies. Their usage policies travel with every request, whether it is paid by a plan or from a balance, and buying a plan exempts nobody from any of them. An allowance is not a licence, and a request a provider would refuse is refused whichever way it is paid. What is not allowed, whose policies apply, and what happens to an account that ignores them — including its plans and its balance — are in the Model and Provider Terms.
11. Money and contact
The price of a period is charged once, when you buy it — by card, from your account balance, with cryptocurrency, or by a redeem code that carries a plan — and nothing is charged again afterwards. The price on the plan's page is the whole price whichever way you pay it: the processing fee on card top-ups applies to money added to the balance, not to a plan bought by card. What the Terms of Service say about payments, taxes and reversed payments applies to a plan. Questions about a plan, before or after buying one, go to support@flintbeam.com.
